Description

Bachelor of Science in Information Systems
Students under this program are trained to handle the managerial side of computer related activities. The focus of the program is effective management of resources – people, money, and computer facilities, especially in areas involving accounting, projections/estimates/feasibility studies, and the like.

History

The BS Information Systems program is one of the most dynamic courses under the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Santo Tomas. In 1999, the B.S. Commerce major in Information System Management was re-engineered to become the B.S. Information Management program. During the same year, the B.S. Commerce major in Information System Management was no longer offered and in return, the College of Science started offering the B.S. Information Management. In June 2004, the B.S. Information Management program was ceded to the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Santo Tomas under the Department of Information and Computer Studies. Because of it's increasing scope which extended beyond business applications, the program was renamed B.S. Information Systems in accordance with CHED Memorandum No. 53, series of 2006. In June 2013, the Department of Information Systems became a newly-established unit under the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Santo Tomas.
